Rockford Little League’s Baseball program offers a fun environment to teach hitting, base running, fielding, and throwing, while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit. Our program is 100% led by volunteers and is part of Little League®

Little League® believes in the power of youth baseball and softball to teach life lessons that build stronger individuals and communities

**Little League requires that you live or go to school within the Rockford Little League Boundaries. Parents attest during registration and documentation is required to support that the player resides in the boundaries or goes to school in the boundaries and is the appropriate age (by proof of birth certificate) as allowed for their divisions. Waivers can be obtained and there are certain exceptions (recently moved to the area? Let us know!). Divisions follow Little League age rules.

Little League Divisions:

T-ball: ages 4-6

**We offer baseball teams, softball teams, and co-ed teams! The rules of play are the same for all tball divisions. All t-ball teams will use a baseball**

Baseball:

Coach Pitch: Little League ages 6-8
Player Pitch: AA Minors: Little League ages 8-10
Player Pitch: AAA Minors: Little League age 11 (largest percentage of players), roster filled with drafted players age 10
Majors: Little League age 12 (largest percentage of players), roster filled with drafted players age Little League 11(smallest percentage of players) (RLL Board reserves the right to allow Little League age 10-year-olds to be drafted into Majors based on skill, experience and approval (rarest percentage of players)
Juniors: Little League age 13-14 (parents can request their 12 yo to play this division)
Seniors: Little League ages 15-16

Can my athlete play down?

No based on liability for age groups.

All AA Minors teams and older are drafted teams. Assessments will be held Saturday February 7^th, 2026 at North Rockford Middle School and this will help us to create more equally drafted teams. Please note if your player tried out for All-Stars the player does not need to attend assessments.

Coach Pitch registration will close February 27.

*** MAJORS AND MINORS BASEBALL DIVISION (Registration closes FEBRUARY 4).

When registering your child, a division will automatically be assigned based on Little League age: Majors (12 year olds ONLY) and Minors (8-11 year olds ONLY). Players will be moved to their appropriate divisions after assessments and player drafts. ALL Majors and Minors teams are drafted. There will also be a AAA division.

All 12 year olds will automatically be drafted onto a Majors team with any remaining spots being filled by drafted 11 year olds.

11 year olds are eligible to be drafted onto a AAA team with any remaining spots being filled by drafted 10 year olds.

10 - 8 year olds will automatically be drafted onto a Minors AA team.

***JUNIORS & SENIORS BASEBALL DIVISIONS (Registration closes MAR 13 for Juniors, Seniors will close toward the end of April).

All 13-14 year olds will be drafted onto a Juniors team (sometimes these are combined with other leagues if needed to make a complete team).
All 15 and 16 year olds will be placed on a Seniors team in our District pending enrollment numbers. Seniors will automatically be put on a waitlist and will not be charged a playing fee until placed on a team. We will be in touch as registration progresses!

Juniors and Seniors divisions begin their seasons AFTER the middle school and high school seasons end.

Games are scheduled mid April to mid June: Please see our calendar.

Tball Games: One game during the week and one game on Saturday. Games are typically Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Coach Pitch Games: One game during the week and one game on Saturday. Games are typically Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.

AA Games: Wednesday and Saturday. Games are typically scheduled 9:00 am Saturday morning.

AAA Games: Tuesday and Friday. No weekend games to accommodate travel and little league schedules.

Majors Games: Monday and Thursday. If we have an odd number of teams we may interleague with surrounding Little Leagues and may have a Wednesday night game. No weekend games to accommodate travel and little league schedules. Note this division will have a team tournament following the regular season that will play other district 9 teams. The tournament is double elimination with the championship game on Saturday (as applicable). Tournament schedule is determined by District 9.

Juniors Games: Determined by District 9 and can vary any day of the week, historically no weekend games. Seniors Games: Determined by District 9 and can vary any day of the week, Saturdays are typically double headers

Coaches: We need coaches! All coaches must pass a background check through JDP. Coaches must coach a regular season team to be considered for a coaching position for an All-Star Team.

There are no refunds once you have signed your player up.

You will have the ability to indicate a preference for your daughter to play on a GIRLS ONLY or CO-ED team. All t-ball divisions will play with a baseball and have the same rules.

Softball (Coach Pitch/AA use an 11" softball, Majors-Seniors use a 12" softball):

AA Minors: Little League ages 8-10
Majors: Little League ages 11-12

2026 Umpire Registration

This must be completed by anyone age 11-99 who is interested in umpiring at RLL. If you are age 18 or older, please complete the Volunteer Registration/Background Check Form. This will allow RLL to complete a mandatory background check.

Your age and experience will largely determine the divisions for which you may umpire. We often have many late registrations in March after basketball season ends; thus, you likely will not be contacted regarding the umpire meeting and training until sometime in the mid March timeframe. The RLL Newsletters will keep you up to date on everything you need to know!

Candidates will also have to opportunity to umpire in post season games (upper division tournaments and All-Stars games). Please keep in mind that once the regular season ends, our need for umpires does not end and we'd love for you to consider umpiring into June and July if you're available!
