Breakdown of Divisions RLL Offers:

***Refer to Little League International’s Age Chart to determine your child’s little league age here à Where can I download the 2023 age chart for Little League Baseball, Softball, and Challenger? - Little League

There are some age overlaps which allow you to decide whether your child should play up or down a division based on ability and family needs. If age allows, we require one season of T-ball before your child advances to the coach pitch division. We follow Little League International's age chart to determine age. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions ([email protected]).

  • We need proof of age with each child’s registration! This only needs to be done ONCE in their RLL career! There are two ways you can accomplish this!

1). Attach a copy of your child(ren)’s birth certificate in their file at You can black out everything except their name and date of birth. A hospital birth certificate cannot be accepted, it must be state issued.

2). Show a copy at Walkup Signups January 10.

  • Each player will need to give their COACH a medical release waiver at the first practice. You can print one here: medical_release_form.pdf (

Email Cindy at [email protected] if you need any help.

Umpires: ages 11-99

Umpires are paid per game. RLL will provide training and all the gear you will need. Online registration must be completed by anyone who is interested in umpiring at RLL. If you are age 18 or older, please complete the Volunteer Registration/Background Check Form at Your age and experience will largely determine the divisions for which you may umpire. Email [email protected] with any questions!

RLL Board Members 2023

There has been a lot of movement on the board since the 2022 season ended. First, we’d like to thank Chad (president) and Kim Simons (sponsorship coordinator and Chad’s right-hand person) for over a decade of service to the community through Rockford Little League. Chad and Kim stepped down at the end of the 2022 season and have left very big shoes to fill. Also, stepping down from their 2022 roles are Vince Scheffler (coaching coordinator) and Jason and Michelle Rourk (equipment managers). If you see any of these folks, please thank them. Their time, hard work and dedication to RLL made it possible for us to have a season.

We would like to welcome Kristen Williams, Chris Bosman, Jackie Bosman, and John Parris to the RLL board. Kristen is our vice president and sponsorship coordinator, Chris is our coaching coordinator, Jackie is taking over as equipment manager, and John will be the board representation for the Umpire in Charge. We have a couple shifts in positions this year as well. Tenille Schlachter is the new president of RLL, and Vince Scheffler will step into the role of Safety Officer.

We Need Help:

RLL runs on volunteers, and we need help. Lots of help!

Open Positions
Facilities Manager:
The facilities manager is responsible for: the upkeep of the facility and its equipment. Maintaining the baseball and softball fields, assists in preparation, maintenance and restoration of grounds as needed. Ensures sure tools and equipment are cleaned and repaired as needed. Ensures use of proper equipment and adheres to safety standards and precautions.

Be on the lookout for field cleanup signups. We’re aiming for the week of April 10 to get the fields and facilities in shape for the season. Some of the work can be done during the week while the kids are practicing. Please consider helping! Lots of hands make light work. Best of all, no experience needed!

We are always looking for help in some form or another. Below is just a small list of Volunteer & Committee opportunities. Continue to watch your email and Facebook for opportunities to plug in and help the league. Many hands make light work!

  • Concessions: We need individuals to work alongside 2 employees during games. If we don't have any volunteers, the fans will have to deal with longer lines.
  • Preseason/Opening Day Preparation: Get the fields ready for the start of the season.
  • Field Maintenance & Equipment: assure our gear and fields are the best they can be.
  • Pictures: Help get teams ready for their time slot and hand out pictures when we get them in.

In addition to the above roles needing to be filled, we'd like each family to consider volunteering 1 hour of their time just once during the season. Most of our volunteer board members bring their whole family out when volunteering at the fields. The kids get together and play a game of pick-up ball while the parents tackle the fields. It's a great way to give back to your community and a great way to invest in the children. And it's always fun getting to know other baseball and softball families! If you have any interest in helping, get in touch with us, or watch for opportunities via email or facebook!

Another thing to consider when registering your child is coaching. Please consider being a head coach or assistant coach. One parent is usually at the fields with their child, so why not have some fun and give back to your community. Kids learn and improve faster when they have more coaches helping to run practices and get in more repetitions. If you’re not sure where to start, being an assistant is a great place! Reach out to Chris if you have any questions about coaching at [email protected].

Evaluations are slated for February 25 at North Rockford Middle School. This is for boys and girls playing kid pitch ball LL ages 8-12, and it is crucial that each child attend. Kid pitch teams are 100% drafted. Evaluations let us know where your child falls within his/her age group. This allows our coaches to draft balanced, competitive teams! We’ll have more information as the date approaches.

Did you know you can sponsor a player, a team, multiple teams even, or have a banner hung at our fields to advertise your business? Well, you can! Rockford Little League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. That’s mean your contribution is tax deductible. It’s an affordable way to support a local league and get a lot of advertising in! Email us at [email protected] if you’d like more information or check the website soon for updated information!

Fundraiser Alert:

Mark your calendars to join Rockford Little League at the SCORE on Tuesday, December 13 from 5-10PM. 10% of all sales (dine in and carry out) will go directly to RLL. We’ll send out a flyer closer to the date!

We love our families:

Please reach out to us if you have any questions. We are always looking to improve and receive input from our families. You can email us at [email protected]. Please give us up to 72 hours to get back to you; we’re all volunteers here! Follow us on Facebook for the most up to date information! is also a great source for information. Check out the FAQ section!

We look forward to a great 2023 season and can’t wait to see everyone on the fields again!
