2026 Season Updates
Spring is right around the corner and that means baseball and softball season is almost here! We are gearing up for another exciting year of learning, teamwork, and community at Rockford Little League. March is a busy month filled with important dates, practices beginning, and opportunities to get involved. Please review the information below carefully and mark your calendars!
Important Dates
- March 13: Registration Closes T-ball, Juniors
- March 14: Equipment Pick-up for coaches (1:00-3:00)
- March 16 Practices Begin (Coach Pitch-Majors)
- March 17: Board Meeting
- March 21: Spring Cleanup, Rain date – March 22
- March 30: Coaching Clinic & Safety Meetings (T-ball, Juniors)
- April 18: Umpire Clinic
- April 21, 22, 30: Team Pictures
- May 17: All-Star Tryouts
Team Assignments, Schedules & Division Updates
We are actively working on finalizing team assignments and confirming coaching placements across all divisions. Thank you for your patience as we carefully assemble balanced teams to ensure a great experience for every player. Coaches will be reaching out soon with team introductions and next steps. Practice schedules are being finalized alongside team assignments and will be communicated as soon as they are complete.
Head Coaches Still Needed
We currently still need Head Coaches in the following divisions. Team assignments cannot
be finalized in these divisions until head coaching positions are filled:
- 3 Coach Pitch Baseball
- 3 Coach Pitch Softball
- 2 Majors Softball (and several assistant coaches)
If you have ever considered coaching, now is the time. We provide support, resources, and a strong community of fellow coaches. Please contact us at [email protected].
Player Needs – Time Sensitive
We are currently looking for:
- Majors Softball (Ages 11–12) – A few additional players
- Juniors Softball (Ages 13–14) – Additional players
If you know of anyone interested, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] so we can finalize these rosters.
Registration Reminder
T-Ball and Juniors registration remains open through March 13
Coaches
Erik DeRoos will be at the Equipment Shed at East Rockford Middle School on:
March 14 | 1:00–3:00 PM. Please reach out to him directly at [email protected] with any equipment-related questions.
Umpires
We are always looking to add more umpires to our team. Umpires are paid per game, and we provide training. Register through the RLL website via the Umpire Registration link.
Our very own Nicholas Sweeney will be leading this year’s clinic:
- Date: April 18
- Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Location: East Rockford Middle School

Parent Reminder
Please turn in your Medical Release Form to your coach at your first practice.

Dogs are NOT ALLOWED at Rockford Little League. This is a per Rockford Public Schools as dogs are not allowed on any school property.
Practice Cancellation/Weather Policy
Practice Cancellations: Your coach will communicate practice cancellations. RLL will only cancel practices if field usage could cause damage. Game cancellations are made by RLL only.
RLL Weather Policy
Games or practices will not be played if:
- Temperature is below 40 degrees at game/practice time
- Heat Index exceeds 110 degrees
- Field conditions will be evaluated:
- Weekdays: 4:00 PM (communication sent by 4:30 PM)
- Saturdays: 8:00 AM (communication sent by 8:30 AM)
- Updates will be sent via email and posted on Facebook
- If lighting is detected in the area:
- Play will stop immediately
- Players must go to their parent/guardian’s vehicle.
- Play may not resume until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike
